Wet weather working through today, with a stiffish breeze from the SSW and pressure going nowhere. Most of the action on Lac Gin should come off the first drop-off and weed lines. If you pick one session, make it the night. Change depth before you change anything else. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lac Gin sits in Mauricie, out in Quebec. The country here is spruce and muskeg. With some 20 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. There is roughly 3.6 km of shoreline here, which is a short walk end to end. The closest town, Leblanc, is 59 km distant. Beyond it, Weymontachie at 98 km and Normandin at 112 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Fish documented in Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout and walleye. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. On Lac Gin that means starting tight and working out.
In an average year July sits at 16°C and January at -18°C. Open water arrives late and leaves early, which concentrates the fishing. Winter locks it down, and early May brings it back. In an average year the thaw lands around early May and the freeze near mid November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. Expect Lac Gin to follow that timing.
No access rule appears in what we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Lac Nil, 1.1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Treat access at Lac Gin as something to verify.
