Flat light and a covered sky today, with a light chop building from the WSW with a settled glass. Activity on Lac Francis should centre on the shaded margin through bright spells. A tough forecast; the night offers the only real chance. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Lac Francis is listed under Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. Around the bank it is northern bush. At 5 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. The nearest town is Pont Rouge, 87 km away. Sainte-Jeanne-d'Arc lies 88 km off, Sainte-Monique another 91 km. Others within reach: Lac Stella within 0.9 km, Lac Levasseur a shade over 1.1 km, Lac Rolande within 1.7 km, Lac Val a shade over 2 km and Lac Boily within 2.1 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean records list northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish among the fish reported. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Work Lac Francis in sections rather than trying to cover it.
The seasonal spread runs -19°C to 16°C. This is a two-season water: locked, then wide open. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around early May. Averages suggest open water from about early May through to roughly mid November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Anyone fishing Lac Francis regularly works to that calendar.
We hold no note on access for this one. There is no mapped parking or launch nearby, which keeps numbers down. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. For a change of water, Lac Stella is 0.9 km distant. The position on Lac Francis is worth confirming on the day.
