Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a faint WSW drift and pressure sitting still. Expect most activity at Lac Jacques around shallow cover and weed edges. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the night. Lower the pace and stay patient. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Look for Lac Jacques in the Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean part of Quebec. It sits at 404 metres above sea level. The water covers some 19 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. Shoreline comes to about 2.6 km, small enough to learn in a day. 86 km away sits Pont Rouge, the nearest town. It is 117 km to Saguenay, the nearest city. This one is safely inside the county line.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Reported across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean: northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Fish Lac Jacques to its features, not to its size.
The seasonal spread runs -19°C to 16°C. Everything is compressed into the middle of the year. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near early May. In an average year the thaw lands around early May and the freeze near mid November. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. On Lac Jacques the same rules apply, with local timing.
Access status is simply unknown for this water. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Failing this one, try Lac Rock, 1.3 km away. Ask locally about Lac Jacques if anything is unclear.
