Soft grey light all day today, with next to no ripple and pressure going nowhere. The fish at Lac Framont are likely to sit near the seam between weed and open water. Not a day the forecast likes; the night keeps a flicker of interest. Lower the pace and stay patient. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Look for Lac Framont in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue part of Quebec. Elevation runs to 349 metres. At 4 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. Our Abitibi-Témiscamingue list holds plenty of bigger water. Some 95 km away sits Val-d'Or, the nearest settlement. Further out sit Malartic (104 km) and Notre-Dame-du-Lac (116 km). This one is safely inside the county line.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Fish documented in Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker and brown bullhead. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. On Lac Framont that means starting tight and working out.
Between January at about -15°C and July at about 17°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Expect a real winter and a strong spring after it. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from late April. Ice clears near late April and comes back about late November in a typical year. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. Plan any trip to Lac Framont around it.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Should this one be busy, Lac du Sorbier is 1.8 km off. Ask locally about Lac Framont if anything is unclear.
