An even grey lid over the water, with barely a breath of wind with a settled glass. Start the search at Lac Fife along points where shallow meets deep. Little to get excited about, though the night holds a sliver of promise. Lower the pace and stay patient. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Lac Fife lies in Mauricie, Quebec. Height above sea level is 410 metres. Roughly 30 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. There is roughly 7.3 km of bank, more than one visit can cover properly. Nearest place of any size is Leblanc, 79 km away. It is 286 km to Trois-Rivières, the nearest city. In the same area: Lac Rene 1 km, Lac Christie 1.2 km away, Lac Tempo 1.5 km, Lac Border 1.6 km away and Lac Telemaque 1.7 km. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Public occurrence data for Mauricie names northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. The county list is broader than any single water. The shape of Lac Fife decides where the fish sit.
On the long-term average, July reads 16°C and January reads -18°C. The freeze holds for the better part of the year. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around early May. In an average year the thaw lands around early May and the freeze near mid November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. At Lac Fife the season follows that pattern closely.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Failing this one, try Lac Rene, 1 km away. None of that is settled for Lac Fife in what we hold.
