Soft grey light all day today, with light air out of the SW and pressure going nowhere. Whatever swims in Lac Edith should be near the calm side of the wind. A slow day overall; the morning is the best of a quiet lot. Go lighter and slower than usual. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

You will find Lac Edith in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec. Northern bush runs right down to the water. Start from Senneterre, 110 km down the road. Then Val-d'Or, 113 km, and Saint-Boniface, 121 km. Other water within reach: Lac des Pierides out at 0.4 km, Lac Palastre some 1 km off, Lac de l'Ivraie out at 1 km, Lac des Bostryches some 1.3 km off and Lac Jost out at 1.5 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Across Abitibi-Témiscamingue, recorded fish include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. At Lac Edith light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Between January at about -17°C and July at about 17°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Everything is compressed into the middle of the year. Count the season from break-up, usually early May. Average temperatures cross freezing around early May in spring and again near mid November in autumn. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. That shapes the year on Lac Edith.
No access rule appears in what we hold. No made access is recorded, so a short walk in is the likely arrangement. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Lac des Pierides at 0.4 km is the sensible second choice. Rules at Lac Edith are worth checking on the day.
