Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a whisper of wind from the SSE and pressure sitting still. Give the weed line and any gaps in it the first hour at Lac Creux. Set the alarm around the night. Change depth before you change anything else. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

This water sits in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. The land about it is northern bush. The water measures roughly 6 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. It is low-lying compared with other Quebec water we list. Albanel is the closest town at 18 km. Normandin lies 19 km off, Dolbeau-Mistassini another 31 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. County-wide records name northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Lac Creux gives up more to patience than to distance.
Average temperature peaks around 17°C in July and bottoms out near -19°C in January. This far north the hard season runs and runs. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about early May until roughly mid November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. On Lac Creux that shapes the whole year.
No access rule appears in what we hold. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Failing this one, try Lac des Paradis, 1.7 km away. Ask locally about Lac Creux if anything is unclear.
