Heavy overcast holding through the day, with a gentle ripple from the SSE and pressure going nowhere. Most of the action on Lac Ferdinand should come off the seam between weed and open water. The night carries the best of the day. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Lac Ferdinand lies within the bounds of Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. It sits at 219 metres above sea level. The water measures roughly 9 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. Around 3.7 km of margin, front to back. Ground here is low by Quebec standards. Supplies mean a trip to Albanel, 20 km off. The nearest city of size is Saguenay, 134 km away. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Survey and observation records for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. At Lac Ferdinand the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Expect July to average close to 17°C, with January the cold end at about -19°C. Ice holds for a long stretch, so the open weeks matter more here than further south. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near early May. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about mid November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. Lac Ferdinand runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No made access is recorded, so a short walk in is the likely arrangement. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Local rules can differ across the county line, so check where you stand. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Should this one be busy, Lac a Charles is 1.2 km off. None of that is settled for Lac Ferdinand in what we hold.
