Flat light and a covered sky today, with a light chop building from the SSE with a settled glass. Fish at Lac a l'Ours should hold close to windblown banks where food collects. The night should out-fish the rest of the day. Take the steady approach over the searching one. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Lac a l'Ours is a Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean water, in Quebec. It lies 220 metres above sea level. It is low-lying compared with other Quebec water we list. For a base, Albanel sits 20 km out. Further out sit Normandin (22 km) and Dolbeau-Mistassini (34 km). Within a short run: Lac a Charles out at 1.3 km, Lac Ferdinand (1.4 km), Lac Creux out at 2.7 km, Petit lac Croche (2.8 km) and Lac aux Trembles out at 3.4 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Species logged across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. On Lac a l'Ours the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
On the long-term average, July reads 17°C and January reads -19°C. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. Winter locks it down, and early May brings it back. Expect the water usable from around early May until roughly mid November. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. That is the shape of the year on Lac a l'Ours.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Some banks are open only from a marked point. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Failing this one, try Lac a Charles, 1.3 km away. Ask locally about Lac a l'Ours if anything is unclear.
