Sunshine start to finish today, with steady pressure of wind from the W with the barometer flat. Fish at Lac Coburn should hold close to the calm side of the wind. The strongest window runs from the day. Stay mobile and follow the activity. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Chaudière-Appalaches, Quebec, is where Lac Coburn sits. The country round it is pine and birch from end to end. It covers about 10 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. There is roughly 1.5 km of shoreline here, which is a short walk end to end. It is high ground by Quebec standards. 11 km away sits Linière, the nearest town. Saint-Côme--Linière is 22 km and Saint-Georges 34 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Public occurrence data for Chaudière-Appalaches names lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon, longnose sucker and sauger. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Fish Lac Coburn where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
Expect July to average close to 17°C, with January the cold end at about -13°C. Cold locks it up for a good stretch each year. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near late April. Expect the water usable from around late April until roughly late November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. The season on Lac Coburn rarely departs from it.
We hold no note on access for this one. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. The water borders Zec Jaro, so expect the reserve rules to apply. For walleye, a jig and minnow near the bottom is the standard; evenings beat middays. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Should this one be busy, Lac des Cygnes is 1 km off. Check the current arrangement for Lac Coburn.
