Overcast skies today, with a whisper of wind from the SSW and pressure going nowhere. Most of the action on Lac Brunet should come off any hard bottom among the soft. Set the alarm around the morning. Stay mobile and follow the activity. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Lac Brunet is a Laurentides water, Quebec side. The setting is mixed forest. The water measures roughly 3 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. On size it sits at the modest end of our Laurentides list. Start from Val-David, 5.6 km down the road. Saint-Louis-de-Terrebonne is the closest city, 54 km away. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Open biodiversity records for Laurentides list pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Lac Brunet fishes better once you know its edges.
The warmest month averages 18°C, the coldest about -14°C. Cold winters and warm summers give a wide working range. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from late April. On average, late April opens the water and late November closes it again. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Lac Brunet runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
The access position is unclear from public sources. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. The nearest alternative is Lac a Wellie-Huot, 2 km out. The position on Lac Brunet is worth confirming on the day.
