Overcast skies today, with a gentle ripple from the SSW and no real change in pressure. On Lac Bellemare, work the shallows early and the drop later first. A stay-home graph, with the morning as the one excuse to go. Quiet tactics only; the fish will not chase today. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Bellemare is one of the Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean waters in Quebec. The surface lies 605 metres up. It runs to roughly 15 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. Shoreline comes to about 2.8 km, small enough to learn in a day. Compared with other Quebec water on our list, it sits high. The town to know is Saint-Fulgence, 65 km out. Saguenay sits 75 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. County-wide records name northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Treat Lac Bellemare as a water to read rather than to cover.
The range across the year is -19°C to 16°C. Open water arrives late and leaves early, which concentrates the fishing. Look for the thaw near mid May; the fishing lifts straight after. Climate figures give an open season running mid May to mid November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. That shapes the year on Lac Bellemare.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Failing this one, try Lac Bourbeau, 1.3 km away. Check the current arrangement for Lac Bellemare.
