Heavy overcast holding through the day, with a steady SW wind and pressure sitting still. The productive water at Lac Lavoie will be around sheltered bays and points. Set the alarm around the night. Change depth before you change anything else. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lac Lavoie is a Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean water, Quebec side. It lies 593 metres above sea level. It measures about 26 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The full circuit measures close to 2.4 km on foot. By elevation it is in the upper part of our Quebec listings. Head to Saint-Fulgence, 64 km away, for anything you forgot. Saint-Honoré is 65 km and Chicoutimi 74 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
We hold no depth figure for this one. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Records held for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean cover northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Treat Lac Lavoie as a water to read rather than to cover.
Expect July near 16°C and January near -19°C on the long-run figures. The season is measured in weeks rather than months. Winter locks it down, and mid May brings it back. Break-up near mid May, freeze-up near mid November: that is the shape of an average year. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. It holds true on Lac Lavoie more years than not.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. For a change of water, Lac Lionel is 0.7 km distant. What applies at Lac Lavoie may have changed since it was mapped.
