A grey, even sky over the water, with a proper ripple driven from the SSW with a settled glass. On Lac Andromede, work bays that hold the day's warmth first. A stay-home graph, with the night as the one excuse to go. Save the long walk for a better forecast. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Set in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Lac Andromede is a Quebec water. This is spruce and muskeg country. It measures about 22 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. Bank access stretches around 3.0 km in total. Normandin is the closest place, 53 km off. Saint-Félicien follows at 60 km, then Albanel at 60 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth figures are not published for this one. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Survey and observation records for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Anyone new to Lac Andromede should walk it once before setting up.
Expect July to average close to 16°C, with January the cold end at about -18°C. Open water arrives late and leaves early, which concentrates the fishing. Look for the thaw near early May; the fishing lifts straight after. Averages place the thaw at early May and the freeze at mid November. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. Expect Lac Andromede to follow that timing.
Our records carry no access rule either way. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Access is unmapped, which usually means a farm track and a walk. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Lac des Morrons at 1.3 km is the sensible second choice. Check the position on Lac Andromede before loading the car.
