Solid cloud cover today, with a consistent blow out of the SSW with the glass holding level. Most of the action on Lac Beost should come off structure within a cast of the bank. A tough forecast; the night offers the only real chance. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lac Beost is one of the Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean waters in Quebec. It stands 591 metres above sea level. It is high ground by Quebec standards. 56 km away sits Normandin, the nearest town. Then Saint-Félicien, 62 km, and Albanel, 63 km. Within a short drive: Lac Oiron 0.3 km, Lac Mimi at 1.5 km, Lac du Kakawi 1.6 km, Lac Persee at 1.9 km and Lac Danae 2 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Reported across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean: northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. At Lac Beost the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
The seasonal spread runs -19°C to 16°C. Cold dominates the calendar on water this far north. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. Ice clears near early May and comes back about mid November in a typical year. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Plan any trip to Lac Beost around it.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Failing this one, try Lac Oiron, 0.3 km away. Treat access at Lac Beost as something to verify.
