Heavy overcast holding through the day, with a soft NW wind and steady pressure. Expect most activity at Chub Lake around the shallows early and the drop later. A stay-home graph, with the night as the one excuse to go. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Look for Chub Lake in Cariboo Regional District, British Columbia. Elevation runs to 842 metres. At some 1.41 sq km it is far too large to cover on foot in a day. The shoreline runs about 9.8 km, so it pays to pick a stretch and stay with it. The closest town, 108 Mile Ranch, is 7.8 km distant. For a city, Kamloops is 144 km off. No border sits close enough to matter.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Across Cariboo Regional District, recorded fish include sockeye salmon, Chinook salmon, bull trout, Coho salmon and longnose sucker. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Chub Lake gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Expect July near 16°C and January near -8°C on the long-run figures. Four clear seasons, with a proper winter at one end. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around early April. Climate figures give an open season running early April to late November. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. It sets the rhythm of the year at Chub Lake.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. For a change of water, Tubbs Lake is 3.8 km distant. Nothing on Chub Lake should be assumed from this page alone.
