Dull, settled light over the water, with mild air moving in from the SE and the barometer holding steady. Fish at Soda Lake should hold close to shallow cover and weed edges. Block out the hours from night into morning. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Soda Lake is one of the Cariboo Regional District waters in British Columbia. Beyond the shoreline you have lake country bush. Roughly 54 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. The whole outline is near 4.7 km, and most of it is walkable. 108 Mile Ranch is the closest place, 3.5 km off. After that come 100 Mile House at 15 km and Williams Lake at 68 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Our records hold no depth for this water. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Cariboo Regional District records list sockeye salmon, Chinook salmon, bull trout, Coho salmon and longnose sucker among the fish reported. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Fish Soda Lake to its features, not to its size.
The range across the year is -8°C to 16°C. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about early April. The open-water window runs from around early April to about late November in an average year. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Plan around that when you fish Soda Lake.
Access status is simply unknown for this water. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Access points are not mapped for this water, which suits people who like quiet. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Sucker Lake, 3.3 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Where Soda Lake is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
