Blue sky from bank to bank today, with mild air moving in from the SE and steady pressure. Whatever swims in Lake of The Trees should be near points where shallow meets deep. Plan around the stretch from night into morning. Keep moving until you find them. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Lake of The Trees is one of the Cariboo Regional District waters in British Columbia. It sits in pine and birch country. Around 80 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. The perimeter runs near 5.2 km, so plan the walk before you start. Start from 108 Mile Ranch, 16 km down the road. Kamloops sits 143 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Records held for Cariboo Regional District cover sockeye salmon, Chinook salmon, bull trout, Coho salmon and longnose sucker. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Treat Lake of The Trees as a water to read rather than to cover.
Averages move between -8°C in January and 15°C in July. The year runs cold to warm and back, with clear transitions. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near early April. Ice clears near early April and comes back about late November in a typical year. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Lake of The Trees runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Dempsey Lake, 3.3 km away, makes the obvious fallback. None of that is settled for Lake of The Trees in what we hold.
