Scattered cloud dimming the moonlight, with a steady SW wind with the barometer flat. Start the search at Aileen Lake along the shallows early and the drop later. A slow day overall; the morning is the best of a quiet lot. Go lighter and slower than usual. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Aileen Lake lies in Regional District of North Okanagan, in British Columbia. Pine and birch runs right down to the water. The water covers some 11 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. The bank runs about 1.5 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. Coldstream is the closest place, 14 km off. The big place round here is Kelowna, 35 km distant. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Species logged across Regional District of North Okanagan include Coho salmon, sockeye salmon, Chinook salmon, rainbow trout and brook trout. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. The near bank of Aileen Lake is often the one people ignore.
Temperature averages peak at 14°C in August and bottom out at -8°C in January. Winter shuts the surface down for months. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around mid April. On the long-run averages the water opens up around mid April and starts locking again about mid November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Aileen Lake fishes to that pattern most years.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Overnight stays are possible about 260 m out, where camping is mapped. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Should this one be busy, Loon Lake is 1 km off. What applies at Aileen Lake may have changed since it was mapped.
