Mississippi holds Grenada Lake, in Grenada County. It lies 200 feet above sea level. It covers about 26.5 sq miles, which means weather matters as much as tactics. The outline is heavily broken, with arms and bays reaching well back from the main body. It ranks among the bigger water on our Mississippi list. Grenada lies 6 miles from the water. Duck Hill lies 14 miles off, Charleston another 22 miles. A county line runs close by, so local bylaws can differ within a short drive.
Depth on file is 58 ft. The old creek line under the surface is the feature worth finding. Look for where the old bank line still shows under the surface. Fish reported in the area, according to open records, include brindled madtom, white bass, white crappie and bluntface shiner. Reported species tell you what lives around here, nothing more. On Grenada Lake that means starting tight and working out.
Temperature averages peak at 80°F in July and bottom out at 41°F in January. The season runs year-round, with the peak either side of summer. October and November give a second good stretch as it cools. February into May fishes hardest as the water warms. At Grenada Lake the season follows that pattern closely.
It sits on public ground, so no permission beyond a licence is normally needed. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Texas Lake sits 8 miles off and takes the overflow. Rules at Grenada Lake are worth checking on the day.
