Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with air barely moving and steady pressure. Fish at Brown Bay should hold close to the first drop off the flats. The forecast is against you; the middle of the day is the least bad option. Short, focused sessions beat a long grind today. A properly cold day, so expect slow, deliberate fishing.

Brown Bay lies within the bounds of Sandy Bay, Saskatchewan. It sits at 304 metres above sea level. By elevation it sits in the lower part of our Saskatchewan listings. Supplies mean a trip to Pelican Narrows, 48 km off. After that come Flin Flon at 112 km and Creighton at 113 km. Close neighbours run: Wapumon Lake just 4.8 km, 11 km out stands Pita Lake, Reeds Lake just 17 km, 23 km out stands Guilloux Lake and Uskik Lake just 27 km. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. Flats either side fish on the drop as bait is pushed off them. The channel is where water moves, and fish follow it. Across Sandy Bay, recorded fish include northern pike, walleye and yellow perch. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Take Brown Bay a stretch at a time.
Long-term averages put July at about 17°C and January near -23°C. This far north the hard season runs and runs. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. Ice usually gives way near early May, and forms again about early November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Brown Bay fishes to that pattern most years.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. There is no mapped parking or launch nearby, which keeps numbers down. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Wapumon Lake, 4.8 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Check the current arrangement for Brown Bay.
