Quebec holds more mapped fishing water than any other province or state, and almost all of it is natural lake. The province counts more than a million lakes and rivers in total, according to the Government of Canada. Almost every water here is a natural lake rather than an impoundment, because the Canadian Shield came pre-scattered with basins and nobody had to build them.
