An even grey lid over the water, with a firm SSW blow and pressure sitting still. Expect most activity at Premier lac Nord around points where shallow meets deep. One clear peak today: the night. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Look for Premier lac Nord in Lanaudière, Quebec. Land around it is northern bush. This is a pocket water of some 4 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Manawan is the closest town at 25 km. Saint-Michel-des-Saints is 45 km and Saint-Donat-de-Montcalm 78 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Fish documented in Lanaudière include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, rock bass and brook trout. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. Anyone new to Premier lac Nord should walk it once before setting up.
Expect July to average close to 17°C, with January the cold end at about -16°C. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near early May. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about early May until roughly mid November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. At Premier lac Nord the season follows that pattern closely.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Lac Yves, 0.9 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Check the position on Premier lac Nord before loading the car.
