Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with a working S breeze and pressure sitting still. The water to cover at Lac Yves is the shallows early and the drop later. The numbers single out the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Lac Yves is one of the Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean waters in Quebec. The land about it is spruce and muskeg. This is a pocket water of some 5 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Métabetchouan sits 48 km from the bank. It is 114 km to Saguenay, the nearest city. Within a short run: 0.8 km away is Lac Zero, Lac Long just 0.8 km, 1.1 km away is Lac Pouce, Le Petit Lac just 1.2 km and 1.9 km away is Lac du Diacre. This one is safely inside the county line.
No chart reached our records; the first cast is your sounding. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Fish documented in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Lac Yves repays a walk before the first cast.
July runs about 17°C on average, January about -17°C. Cold dominates the year and the fishing works around it. Ice is part of the season here, ending near early May. In an average year the thaw lands around early May and the freeze near mid November. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. The season on Lac Yves rarely departs from it.
The access position is unclear from public sources. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Should this one be busy, Lac Zero is 0.8 km off. Confirm access to Lac Yves locally before you travel.
