No direct sun expected today, with a consistent blow out of the S with the glass holding level. Give shallow cover and weed edges the first hour at Lac Long. The numbers single out the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

You will find Lac Long in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. It sits in northern bush. It measures about 11 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The whole outline is near 2.8 km, and most of it is walkable. Métabetchouan at 47 km is the nearest place to stop. It is 113 km to Saguenay, the nearest city. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean records list northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish among the fish reported. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Work Lac Long in sections rather than trying to cover it.
Climate normals give 17°C for July and -17°C for January. Water stays cold even at the height of the year. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. From about early May to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. That is the shape of the year on Lac Long.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. No built facilities appear in mapping around this water. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Should this one be busy, Lac Yves is 0.8 km off. Check the current arrangement for Lac Long.
