Heavy overcast holding through the day, with a light chop building from the ENE and the barometer holding steady. Start the search at Lac Waunusiwau along the first drop-off and weed lines. The day fishes best from afternoon into evening. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop.

You will find Lac Waunusiwau in Nord-du-Québec, Quebec. The bank is 347 metres above sea level. This is sizeable water at about 2.37 sq km, and a boat opens up most of it. With 8.7 km or so of shoreline, boat anglers cover ground the bank cannot. The town to know is Kuujjuaq, 239 km out. Labrador City is 384 km and Wabush 389 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Across Nord-du-Québec, recorded fish include Arctic charr, brook trout, lake trout and lake whitefish. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Lac Waunusiwau gives up more to patience than to distance.
Averages here run 12°C at the top of summer and -25°C at the bottom of winter. This is a two-season water: locked, then wide open. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough early June. Open water usually runs from early June until about late October. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. Expect Lac Waunusiwau to follow that timing.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Lac Barbara at 13 km is the sensible second choice. For Lac Waunusiwau, the notice at the access point is the final word.
