Solid cloud cover today, with a whisper of wind from the ENE and the barometer holding steady. The productive water at Lac Pien will be around the shaded margin through bright spells. Plan around the stretch from the day. Keep moving until you find them. Cold air keeps the water sluggish; scale everything down.

Lac Pien is a Côte-Nord water, Quebec side. The surface lies 421 metres up. This is sizeable water at about 5.19 sq km, and a boat opens up most of it. There is roughly 24 km of bank, more than one visit can cover properly. Size puts it in the front rank of our Côte-Nord list. Nearest town is Kuujjuaq, 234 km off. Saguenay is the closest city, 858 km away. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Survey and observation records for Côte-Nord include logperch. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. At Lac Pien light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Expect July near 12°C and January near -26°C on the long-run figures. The year here is short and sharp: a long lid, then a burst of open water. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near early June. Ice clears near early June and comes back about late October in a typical year. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. Anyone fishing Lac Pien regularly works to that calendar.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. If the gate is shut, Lac Waunusiwau at 16 km is the nearest alternative. The position on Lac Pien is worth confirming on the day.
