An even grey lid over the water, with barely a breath of wind with the barometer flat. Expect most activity at Lac Uzos around windblown banks where food collects. A hard day on paper; the night edges the rest. Scale down and fish slowly. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

The Abitibi-Témiscamingue end of Quebec holds Lac Uzos. The setting is rolling bush. It measures about 22 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. There is roughly 3.5 km of shoreline here, which is a short walk end to end. Val-d'Or sits 62 km from the bank. Gatineau is the closest city, 274 km away. Also on the doorstep: Lac Sognes 0.6 km, Lac Baudet some 2 km off, Lac Agree 2.2 km, Lac Bau some 2.4 km off and Lac Mornant 3 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Across Abitibi-Témiscamingue, recorded fish include northern pike, yellow perch and walleye. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. Lac Uzos gives up more to patience than to distance.
Averages move between -15°C in January and 17°C in July. Expect a real winter and a strong spring after it. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough early May. The water is typically free of ice between early May and late November. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. Lac Uzos runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
We hold no note on access for this one. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No made access is recorded, so a short walk in is the likely arrangement. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Lac Sognes at 0.6 km is the sensible second choice. For Lac Uzos in particular, ask before you travel.
