An even grey lid over the water, with almost no wind to speak of and the barometer holding steady. Give the shallows early and the drop later the first hour at Lac Tony. Everything points to the night. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

You will find Lac Tony in Mauricie, Quebec. The surroundings are boreal forest. The water covers some 71 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. Shoreline length is close to 5.9 km, and each section fishes a little differently. Size puts it in the front rank of our Mauricie list. Head to Leblanc, 46 km away, for anything you forgot. Weymontachie is 61 km and Saint-Félicien 102 km. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Fish documented in Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout and walleye. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Treat Lac Tony as a water to read rather than to cover.
Average temperature peaks around 16°C in July and bottoms out near -18°C in January. Everything is compressed into the middle of the year. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. In an average year the thaw lands around early May and the freeze near mid November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Lac Tony fishes to that pattern most years.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Failing this one, try Lac Castor, 1.2 km away. None of that is settled for Lac Tony in what we hold.
