An even grey lid over the water, with flat calm through the day with the glass holding level. Start the search at Lac Arthur along sheltered bays and points. If you pick one session, make it the night. Work the productive water thoroughly. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Look for Lac Arthur in Mauricie, Quebec. The ground around here is northern bush. With some 29 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The bank runs about 4.2 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. It sits higher than most water we list in Quebec. Head to Leblanc, 48 km away, for anything you forgot. Saguenay sits 200 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Species logged across Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. Lac Arthur repays a walk before the first cast.
Typical July readings run about 16°C; by January the average is down near -18°C. Ice holds for a long stretch, so the open weeks matter more here than further south. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around early May. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about mid November. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. The season on Lac Arthur rarely departs from it.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Should this one be busy, Lac Seraphin is 1.5 km off. Treat Lac Arthur as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
