Heavy overcast holding through the day, with stillness over the whole water and steady pressure. Activity on Lac Simca should centre on any hard bottom among the soft. One clear peak today: the night. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Lac Simca sits in Mauricie, out in Quebec. It sits at 585 metres above sea level. It runs to roughly 27 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. The edge runs 2.3 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. Compared with other Quebec water on our list, it sits high. Nearest town is Leblanc, 50 km off. Beyond it, Weymontachie at 64 km and Saint-Félicien at 98 km. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Records held for Mauricie cover northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. Treat Lac Simca as a water to read rather than to cover.
Climate records put July near 16°C and January near -18°C. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Averages place the thaw at early May and the freeze at mid November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Lac Simca runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
The access position is unclear from public sources. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Lac Laflamme at 1.8 km is the sensible second choice. Check the position on Lac Simca before loading the car.
