Dull, settled light over the water, with enough SSE wind to stack food downwind and the barometer holding steady. Whatever swims in Lac Tony should be near points where shallow meets deep. The numbers single out the morning. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Look for Lac Tony in the Capitale-Nationale part of Quebec. Elevation runs to 465 metres. Small at around 6 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. The closest town, Laurentides, is 23 km distant. Further out sit Saint-Raymond (42 km) and Fossambault-sur-le-Lac (52 km). No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Capitale-Nationale records list lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon, longnose sucker, sauger and channel catfish among the fish reported. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. The shape of Lac Tony decides where the fish sit.
Between January at about -16°C and July at about 17°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Winter owns most of the year at this latitude. The lid usually goes in early May, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. Expect the water usable from around early May until roughly mid November. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. Lac Tony runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
The paperwork position is blank for this one. Access is unmapped, which usually means a farm track and a walk. For walleye, a jig and minnow near the bottom is the standard; evenings beat middays. Look for a notice board at the entrance. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. The nearest alternative is Lac Ralph, 0.7 km out. The position on Lac Tony is worth confirming on the day.
