Wet weather working through today, with a faint WSW drift and pressure going nowhere. The productive water at Lac Martel will be around the calm side of the wind. One clear peak today: the evening. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

You will find Lac Martel in Capitale-Nationale, Quebec. Height above sea level is 531 metres. Surface area is around 20 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. Roughly 2.6 km of bank means you can walk to a fresh area when one goes quiet. On our Capitale-Nationale list it sits near the top for size. For supplies, Laurentides is 24 km out. For a city, Sainte-Foy is 74 km off. No border sits close enough to matter.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Open biodiversity records for Capitale-Nationale list lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon, longnose sucker and sauger. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Lac Martel fishes better once you know its edges.
July runs about 17°C on average, January about -16°C. Water stays cold even at the height of the year. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough early May. In an average year the thaw lands around early May and the freeze near mid November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. Lac Martel fishes to that pattern most years.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. For walleye, a jig and minnow near the bottom is the standard; evenings beat middays. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Lac Irene sits 0.9 km off and takes the overflow. Nothing on Lac Martel should be assumed from this page alone.
