Fog sitting on the water this morning, with steady pressure of wind from the SSW and pressure sitting still. On Lac Ti-Fird, work the seam between weed and open water first. The numbers single out the night. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Lac Ti-Fird sits within Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean in Quebec. Height above sea level is 522 metres. Surface area runs to about 8 hectares — small enough to read in one session. It is high ground by Quebec standards. 46 km away sits Saint-Félicien, the nearest town. Then Saint-Prime, 51 km, and Normandin, 54 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Open biodiversity records for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Fish Lac Ti-Fird where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
Average temperature peaks around 16°C in July and bottoms out near -18°C in January. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around early May. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about early May until roughly mid November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Plan any trip to Lac Ti-Fird around it.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Lac Thoulomme, 1.2 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Rules at Lac Ti-Fird are worth checking on the day.
