An even grey lid over the water, with a useful SSW wind pushing food about and the barometer holding steady. On Lac Renaud, work the shaded margin through bright spells first. One clear peak today: the night. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Renaud is one of the Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean listings for Quebec. It lies 524 metres above sea level. It covers about 6 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. It is high ground by Quebec standards. Head to Saint-Félicien, 43 km away, for anything you forgot. Further out sit Saint-Prime (49 km) and Normandin (51 km). No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Fish documented in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. On Lac Renaud that means starting tight and working out.
On the long-term average, July reads 16°C and January reads -18°C. Little of the calendar is open water, so timing counts for everything. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. Open water usually runs from early May until about mid November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. The season on Lac Renaud rarely departs from it.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Lac Ghislain, 0.8 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Treat Lac Renaud as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
