Flat light and a covered sky today, with almost no wind to speak of with the barometer flat. Lac Succa should fish best around windblown banks where food collects today. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the night. Lower the pace and stay patient. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Lac Succa lies in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, in Quebec. The bank is 356 metres above sea level. Roughly 11 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. About 2.0 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. The closest town, Val-d'Or, is 92 km distant. For a city, Gatineau is 249 km off. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
No chart reached our records; the first cast is your sounding. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Abitibi-Témiscamingue records list northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker and brown bullhead among the fish reported. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Lac Succa repays a walk before the first cast.
Climate normals give 17°C for July and -15°C for January. The middle months are generous; the ends are demanding. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Climate averages put the opening at about early May and the closing near late November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. At Lac Succa the season follows that pattern closely.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. The nearest alternative is Lac Arimont, 0.5 km out. Rules at Lac Succa are worth checking on the day.
