Soft grey light all day today, with stillness over the whole water and steady pressure. Fish at Lac Berrieux should hold close to points where shallow meets deep. Numbers are low everywhere; the night is the pick of them. Scale down and fish slowly. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac Berrieux is one of the Abitibi-Témiscamingue waters in Quebec. The surface lies 358 metres up. At about 92 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The outline measures near 5.8 km, so local knowledge counts. It ranks high for size among our Abitibi-Témiscamingue listings. Val-d'Or is the closest place, 94 km off. After that come Malartic at 104 km and Notre-Dame-du-Lac at 123 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
There is no published depth for this one, so start shallow and work out. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Species logged across Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker and brown bullhead. The county list is broader than any single water. At Lac Berrieux the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Temperature averages peak at 17°C in July and bottom out at -15°C in January. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. The lid tends to go about early May and return around late November. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. Lac Berrieux runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. The nearest alternative is Lac du Rire, 1.2 km out. Ask locally about Lac Berrieux if anything is unclear.
