Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with a faint SSW drift and pressure going nowhere. Lac Stoney should fish best around the first drop-off and weed lines today. Not a day the forecast likes; the night keeps a flicker of interest. Lower the pace and stay patient. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Look for Lac Stoney in the Outaouais part of Quebec. It lies 315 metres above sea level. Around 76 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. The perimeter runs near 7.0 km, so plan the walk before you start. Few waters listed in Outaouais are bigger. 45 km away sits Saint-Boniface, the nearest town. Maniwaki is 46 km away, with Saint-Raphaël at 48 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Reported across Outaouais: pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Lac Stoney repays a walk before the first cast.
The range across the year is -15°C to 18°C. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from late April. From about late April to around late November, expect open water on the long-run figures. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. Lac Stoney runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Should this one be busy, Lac Riddell is 1.6 km off. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Stoney for certain.
