A closed sky with even light today, with a firm SSW blow and steady pressure. On Lac Spring, work points where shallow meets deep first. One clear peak today: the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

The Mauricie end of Quebec holds Lac Spring. Height above sea level is 406 metres. The water covers some 48 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. Roughly 4.7 km of bank means you can walk to a fresh area when one goes quiet. On our Mauricie list it sits near the top for size. The nearest town is Leblanc, 46 km away. Then Weymontachie, 100 km, and Chapais, 127 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Public occurrence data for Mauricie names northern pike, brook trout and walleye. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. At Lac Spring light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Averages move between -18°C in January and 16°C in July. Ice holds for a long stretch, so the open weeks matter more here than further south. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near early May. Open water usually runs from early May until about mid November. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Spring.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Lac du Pont, 3.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing on Lac Spring should be assumed from this page alone.
