A closed sky with even light today, with a steady SSW wind with a settled glass. The fish at Lac Leclerc are likely to sit near sheltered bays and points. Make the night the heart of the trip. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Leclerc sits in Mauricie, out in Quebec. The bank is 401 metres above sea level. It measures some 3.06 sq km, and wind has room to build across it. There is roughly 14 km of bank, more than one visit can cover properly. On our Mauricie list it sits near the top for size. Leblanc sits 44 km from the bank. Weymontachie lies 100 km off, Chapais another 129 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Across Mauricie, recorded fish include northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Treat Lac Leclerc as a water to read rather than to cover.
On the long-term average, July reads 16°C and January reads -18°C. This is a two-season water: locked, then wide open. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about early May until roughly mid November. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. Lac Leclerc fishes to that pattern most years.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. For a change of water, Lac Kiackw is 4.3 km distant. For Lac Leclerc in particular, ask before you travel.
