A rainy spell sitting over the area, with the water lying quiet and no real change in pressure. Most of the action on Lac Sarault should come off windblown banks where food collects. Make the morning the heart of the trip. Ride the conditions while they last. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

The Capitale-Nationale end of Quebec holds Lac Sarault. This is pine and birch country. At roughly 5 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. Supplies mean a trip to Laurentides, 16 km off. La Tuque follows at 38 km, then Sainte-Thècle at 52 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Our records hold no depth for this water. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Across Capitale-Nationale, recorded fish include lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon and longnose sucker. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Lac Sarault responds to conditions more than to tactics.
Climate normals give 17°C for July and -15°C for January. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near late April. Ice clears near late April and comes back about late November in a typical year. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. The season on Lac Sarault follows the weather closely.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. For walleye, a jig and minnow near the bottom is the standard; evenings beat middays. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Lac a l'Eau Claire sits 1 km off and takes the overflow. Confirm access to Lac Sarault locally before you travel.
