Solid cloud cover today, with flat calm through the day with the barometer flat. Most of the action on Lac Rouge should come off the calm side of the wind. A steady middling day from end to end. Change depth before you change anything else. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Lac Rouge is listed under Laurentides, Quebec. It sits at 360 metres above sea level. At about 14 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The full circuit measures close to 2.5 km on foot. Rivière-Rouge lies 24 km from the water. Orléans sits 133 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
We hold no depth figure for this one. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Records held for Laurentides cover pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and yellow perch. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. Lac Rouge gives up more to patience than to distance.
Averages here run 18°C at the top of summer and -15°C at the bottom of winter. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about late April. Ice clears near late April and comes back about late November in a typical year. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. Plan any trip to Lac Rouge around it.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Lac Vert, 1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Confirm access to Lac Rouge locally before you travel.
