Solid cloud cover today, with a faint S drift with the barometer flat. The water to cover at Lac Stanyar is the shaded margin through bright spells. A middling, even day, steady rather than spectacular. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lac Stanyar sits in Laurentides, out in Quebec. The bank is 474 metres above sea level. The water covers some 17 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. Shoreline comes to about 3.5 km, small enough to learn in a day. Rivière-Rouge sits 24 km from here and is the nearest stop. Then Ferme-Neuve, 37 km, and Mont-Laurier, 41 km. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Public occurrence data for Laurentides names pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. The shape of Lac Stanyar decides where the fish sit.
Expect July to average close to 17°C, with January the cold end at about -15°C. Four clear seasons, with a proper winter at one end. Ice-out usually falls in late April, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about late April until roughly late November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Plan around that when you fish Lac Stanyar.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Failing this one, try Lac Oat, 1.5 km away. Nothing on Lac Stanyar should be assumed from this page alone.
