A closed sky with even light today, with a helpful ripple pushed from the S and no real change in pressure. On Lac Oat, work the seam between weed and open water first. Fair numbers all day without a real peak. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Within Laurentides, Quebec, you have Lac Oat. The bank is 393 metres above sea level. It measures about 11 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. There is roughly 2.4 km of shoreline here, which is a short walk end to end. The nearest town is Rivière-Rouge, 23 km away. For a city, Orléans is 134 km off. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Public occurrence data for Laurentides names pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. The shape of Lac Oat decides where the fish sit.
Long-term averages put July at about 17°C and January near -15°C. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. Break-up comes around late April, and the run that follows is short and strong. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about late April until roughly late November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Anyone fishing Lac Oat regularly works to that calendar.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. For a change of water, Lac Stanyar is 1.5 km distant. Rules at Lac Oat are worth checking on the day.
