Dull, settled light over the water, with a gentle ripple from the WSW and no real change in pressure. On Lac Roland, work the weed line and any gaps in it first. A grinding day likely, with the night worth the effort if any is. Save the long walk for a better forecast. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Quebec holds Lac Roland, in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean. It lies 737 metres above sea level. This is a pocket water of some 4 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Compared with other Quebec water on our list, it sits high. Some 28 km away sits Saint-Fulgence, the nearest settlement. Saguenay is the closest city, 41 km away. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. County-wide records name northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Lac Roland repays a walk before the first cast.
The warm month here averages 15°C; the cold one sits at -18°C. The ice season is long here and the open one short. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around mid May. The water is typically free of ice between mid May and early November. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. Plan around that when you fish Lac Roland.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Sort the permit out before you load the car. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Should this one be busy, Lac Guy is 0.4 km off. Treat Lac Roland as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
