Solid cloud cover today, with a kind SSE breeze on the water and no real change in pressure. The fish at Lac Reed are likely to sit near the weed line and any gaps in it. If you must go, go in the morning. Treat it as a scouting trip with a rod in hand. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

You will find Lac Reed in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. Height above sea level is 776 metres. The water covers some 16 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. With about 2.9 km of edge, you can try several depths in one session. It is high ground by Quebec standards. Head to Saint-Fulgence, 27 km away, for anything you forgot. Beyond it, La Baie at 34 km and Saint-Honoré at 38 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Reported across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean: northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Anyone new to Lac Reed should walk it once before setting up.
Temperature averages peak at 15°C in July and bottom out at -18°C in January. Cold dominates the year and the fishing works around it. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around mid May. Open water usually runs from mid May until about early November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. Lac Reed fishes to that pattern most years.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. The nearest alternative is Lac de l'Entrepreneur, 0.7 km out. Confirm before you fish Lac Reed.
