Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with light air out of the W with the barometer flat. Start the search at Lac Palot along sheltered bays and points. A broad window opens from the day. Commit to the pattern once the first fish shows. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Look for Lac Palot in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec. Rolling bush runs right down to the water. It runs to roughly 11 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. The whole outline is near 1.3 km, and most of it is walkable. Notre-Dame-du-Lac lies 95 km from the water. Greater Sudbury sits 242 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Abitibi-Témiscamingue records list northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker among the fish reported. The county list is broader than any single water. Anyone new to Lac Palot should walk it once before setting up.
Expect July near 17°C and January near -15°C on the long-run figures. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough late April. Climate figures give an open season running late April to late November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. At Lac Palot the season follows that pattern closely.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. If the gate is shut, Lac Laneret at 0.9 km is the nearest alternative. Treat Lac Palot as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
