An even grey lid over the water, with just enough S wind to ripple the surface and pressure sitting still. Give points where shallow meets deep the first hour at Lac Pakwasin. The day peaks in the night. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Out in Mauricie, Quebec, sits Lac Pakwasin. This is boreal forest ground. It measures about 11 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. About 2.0 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. By elevation it is in the upper part of our Quebec listings. Weymontachie sits 34 km from here and is the nearest stop. It is 191 km to Saguenay, the nearest city. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Fish documented in Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. On Lac Pakwasin the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
On the long-term average, July reads 16°C and January reads -18°C. Winter runs most of the calendar, and everything worth doing happens in the gap. Once it clears, about early May, the fishing comes on quickly. Climate averages put the opening at about early May and the closing near mid November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. The season on Lac Pakwasin rarely departs from it.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Lac Sabot at 1.1 km is the sensible second choice. None of that is settled for Lac Pakwasin in what we hold.
