Lac Ovale, Quebec: Fishing Spots and Seasons

• Overview

  In Quebec, Lac Ovale belongs to Capitale-Nationale. Around the bank it is lake country bush. This is a tiny water, and one quiet approach covers all of it. Most waters listed here for Capitale-Nationale are larger. The town to know is Laurentides, 5.9 km out. After that come Saint-Raymond at 42 km and Sainte-Thècle at 44 km. This one is safely inside the county line.

• Where to Fish on Lac Ovale

  There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Species logged across Capitale-Nationale include lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon, longnose sucker and sauger. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Lac Ovale fishes better once you know its edges.
