Solid cloud cover today, with a firm SSW blow and no real change in pressure. The water to cover at Lac Mona is reed fringes and open pockets. The night carries the best of the day. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Mona falls in Laurentides, part of Quebec. It lies 440 metres above sea level. At about 17 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The bank runs about 2.5 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. 46 km away sits Ferme-Neuve, the nearest town. After that come Rivière-Rouge at 48 km and Manawan at 56 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Fish documented in Laurentides include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. The shape of Lac Mona rewards a slow walk along one bank.
Expect July near 17°C and January near -16°C on the long-run figures. Long winters and short summers set the pattern. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around early May. In an average year the thaw lands around early May and the freeze near mid November. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Mona.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Should this one be busy, Lac Lee is 0.8 km off. Where Lac Mona is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
